General Positive Developments 

We plan to celebrate and promote any individual, organisation or body which promotes the best interests of 
all children living in Birmingham.

In order to do this, we need you to tell us what you and others are doing, so please keep us informed!

ABC Positive Developments 2019.

  • ABC organises Birmingham's 1st ever National Children's Day (12-5-19) celebrations by having 2 stalls in the city centre giving out £700 worth of books, sweets and gifts to local children. This event was brilliantly supported by John Lewis & Partners, Foyles Bookshop and various others.
  • ABC starts planning for Birmingham's 1st ever National Children's Day Party with local universities, BCC, Police and Businesses in 2020.
  • ABC continues to encourage Birmingham City Council to become a Child Friendly City (like Child Friendly Leeds).  Indications are that this could begin to happen very soon....which is brilliant news. 
  • ABC begins its 1st Positive Action Report across the city. 
  • ABC mail drops all 431 local Birmingham schools and now via the council also has access to the city wide electronic education notice board to circulate messages to all schools.
  • In Spring ABC attended the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Spring Expo to talk with local businesses. 
  • ABC becomes a member of Great Birmingham Chamber of Commerce.
  • ABC wins the Tiger Lab Network (Birmingham City University) 1st Charity Award.
  • Social Workers Union (UK) supports ABC.
  • National Education Union (Birmingham) supports ABC.
  • British Association of Social Worker (UK) passes motion of support in ABC and commits to support similar initiatives across the country.
  • A growing number of local Councillors and MPs are publically showing support for what ABC is trying to achieve.
  • ABC begins a positive working partnership with National Children's Day UK.    
  • ABC reaches out to the local business community to support what it is trying to achieve, including the Co-op, The Works, Tesco, etc. 
  • ABC begins awarding various business and schools special achievement awards.
  • ABC features in PSW and SWU publications and also features in a live interview on Free Radio.
  • In June 2019 ABC twitter feed breaks 1000 and continues growing with followers from across the world.  
  • ABC is planning a winter / spring awareness raising campaign which will feature in Chamber Link publication between October 2019 and January 2020. 

ABC Positive Developments 2018.

  • ABC is set up in June 2019.
  • ABC gets the support of the then Director of Birmingham Children's Trust, who later becomes an advisor to ABC.
  • ABC engages local Trustees and begins to develop its campaigning strategy.
  • ABC engages with the local council and chamber of commerce.
  • September 2019 ABC has its first public planning meeting.
  • Since the start ABC has kept all 111 local elected leaders and  key city leader updated on developments on a monthly basis. 
  • Minuteman Press Hall Green chose ABC s their local charity freely providing much needed printing and promotional material.
  • 3PB Legal Chamber offer ABC use of its city centre offices to hold meetings.
